Battery Maintenance tips

Often overlooked, the battery is one of the basics. It all starts with the battery and
connections - without a good healthy power cell and connections all manner of
problems may arise.

Follow these simple steps to keep your battery in good working order:

1.

Keep connections and terminals clean and free of corrosion - remove acid residue with a mixture of warm water and baking soda poured over terminals, dry and then cover with grease or vaseline to keep air from getting at terminals.

2.

Check water levels if possible in open top betteries, especially over the
warmer months.

3.

Flat batteries should be charged as soon as possible to prolong life.
Hart Auto Electrical Ltd. can charge the battery for you for only NZ$10.

4.

It is a good idea to have your battery tested yearly or before a long trip.
At Hart Auto Electrical ltd. we don’t charge to test your battery!
